About K9 Krafted

A resource built for the quiet, focused craft of shaping a small animal out of a single block of wood.

K9 Krafted is a wood carving and animal sculpture resource dedicated to miniature dog breeds and wildlife. It grew out of a simple observation: most carving content is either aimed at seasoned woodworkers with a full shop, or so basic that it never gets you to a finished animal. There was very little written for the person who wants to sit down with a knife, a block of basswood, and carve a recognizable dog by the weekend.

So that is what we make. Every tutorial, tool guide, and supply recommendation on this site is organized around one goal: helping you carve small animal figures that actually look like the creature you set out to make. We carve miniature dog breeds because they teach proportion and soft muscle transitions, and we carve wildlife — foxes, deer, rabbits, owls — because they teach flow, texture, and respect for the grain.

We believe carving should be approachable without being dumbed down. We name the mistakes we made, show the cuts that fix them, and point you to the specific tools and materials that make the work easier rather than harder. When we recommend a product, it is because we would put it in a friend's hands, not because it happens to be popular.

Our mission

To make miniature animal carving learnable for anyone patient enough to make one careful cut at a time — by pairing clear, honest tutorials with a trustworthy, curated list of the tools and supplies that actually belong on a beginner's bench.
